Florida boaters are missing in a lake near Legoland, prompting a search operation.

Authorities in Florida are searching for two boaters reported missing in a lake near Legoland.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the boaters, whose names were not released, were reported missing Sunday evening in Lake Eloise, a body of water near a popular tourist destination in Winter Haven, Fla.

The sheriff’s office said it launched a search operation Sunday night but so far has been unable to locate the boaters.

Spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer said the search effort is ongoing and that the sheriff’s office is working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, as well as other state and local agencies, to locate the missing persons.

“We’re asking that anyone who was out on the lake today or who may have seen something to please contact us,” Eleazer said.

The lake is a popular spot for fishing and boating, and contains a variety of species including bass and bluegill.

The sheriff’s office has not released any additional information about the circumstances of the missing boaters, or the type of boat they were using.

The search operation continued on Monday as authorities appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
