Sebastian Vettel at Mercedes? Hamilton was impressed / Formula 1

Lewis Hamilton commented on Sebastian Vettel’s potential return to Formula 1 with Mercedes in the paddock at the Suzuka circuit. The seven-time champion would be happy to return.

This year marks the end of a chapter in Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 career. The Englishman will compete for the Mercedes team in the World Cup for the last time, after which he will move to Ferrari to try his luck with the Reds. The seven-time world champion follows Carlos Sainz, who has to find a new cockpit.

It is not yet clear who will be Hamilton’s successor. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has already stressed several times that he wants to give himself enough time in the search. And the Viennese is spoiled for choice, because almost any driver would not like to sit in a car with a star – even if the works team has not been able to fight at the front of the field in recent years.

One of the names that is frequently associated with Hamilton’s successor is that of Sebastian Vettel. The German said goodbye to the first division after the 2022 season, but never completely ruled out a return. He has now fueled speculation about a possible return to Formula 1 himself by confirming discussions with Wolff in a “Sky” interview.

Hamilton would be happy if Vettel takes his cockpit. He was impressed by the statement of the four-time champion who missed Formula 1: “You will always miss it because it is the best sport in the world and it is also the best experience in the world, having an amazing group of people works to win and achieve together. In my opinion nothing compares.”

And the 103-time GP winner explained: “I would like to see Seb come back. I think he will also be a great choice for the team. He is German and a multiple world champion. He is a man of great values who would take this team forward and I will be very happy if he returns.”
