Sen. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) lauded the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) announcement of an additional $20 million in federal relief to assist Massachusetts households in meeting the costs of energy consumption.
The HHS, in conjunction with the Federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), has allocated the funds to aid low-income households in Massachusetts in paying their energy bills. The money can also be used to fund energy-saving home improvements that can help to lower energy costs.
Commenting on the development, Sen.
