Dusseldorf These are days of shock for about 250 members of the country’s labor council Volkswagen Group. The reason is the decision of the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in mid-January. This can lead to a reduction in wages for many representatives of workers.

According to information from Handelsblatt, letters have been sent to around 170 members of the works council at VW in the past few days. Anyone who has already received a written letter can breathe a sigh of relief. Nothing changes for him as a result of the decision of the BGH. However, all other employee representatives must account for the loss of wages.

According to the group’s insiders, several scenarios for possible wage cuts are currently being played out. As things stand, the reduction of the 20 affected job boards is said to be negative. They are threatened with losing almost half of their previous salary. In private cases, a monthly amount of around 4000 euros is involved. The cuts could go into effect as early as late February. The Handelsblatt learned this from circles familiar with the process.
