With Stefano Bonetti and Maurizio Bottalico, two fast Italians are competing for the overall victory in the Landshaag this year. Road racers have already left their mark on the Isle of Man.

Mountain run from Landshaag to St. Martin have been an important part of the Austrian motorsport calendar since 1979. The event, which now marks the start of the European Hill Climb Championship, not only attracts thousands of racing fans to the races, but also world champions such as Klaus Klaffenböck and Grand Prix winners like Eduard Stöllinger have not been able to escape the attraction of the competition. event in the past.

These days it is many road athletes who start their new season in Austria. His teammates Francesco Curinga and Maurizio Bottalico followed in his footsteps, so to speak. Before committing to winning the Junior Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man in 2022, Curinga left Landshaag as a winner in the Supersport category in 2016 and 2017. Bottalico’s list of achievements reads similarly. After his Landshaag victory last year in the Superstock 1000 class, he finished the Junior Manx GP in third place.

Bonetti and Bottalico are on the list again this year. With four-time daily winner Wolfgang Gammer out and Andreas Gangl out through injury – he has held the course record with his time of 1:09.940 since 2016 – the two Italians are the main contenders for overall victory. It would be only the third time that no local pilot would receive the biggest trophy from OK boss Markus Altenstrasser.
