In preparation for the Geneva International Motor Show, the Fiat Panda gets an update that will scare you. Anyone in need of a new SUV, pickup or camper?
The Fiat Panda is a popular model that symbolizes what the Italian car manufacturer is known for: compact city cars. With 1.3 million compact cars sold in 2023, the concept still works, but not in North America.
There are people looking for aggressive supercars like the Tesla Cybertruck. So what does Fiat do? It comes with Mega-Panda, in city version and SUV, pick-up and camper version. Cruel? Secretly yes…
Fiat Panda goes Mega with new electric cars
Five creative concepts show the future of Fiat with the Panda city car. “A new era,” parent company Stellantis calls it. The era will start from July 2024 with the first updated city car. After that, we can expect a new model every year for three years.
In addition to the city car, Fiat works on SUVs, sedans, pickup trucks and campers. All in a crazy futuristic model that probably would never have seen the light of day without the Tesla Cybertruck.
The only difference is that Tesla only sells electric models. Something you can expect from a company like Fiat in 2024, and therefore beyond. But the Italian manufacturer does not seem to want to touch that. Each model is sold not only as an EV, but also as a hybrid or even with a combustion engine.
Something that, like many different models, is completely intended to attract as many customers as possible around the world. Because with 1.3 million cars sold by Fiat in 2023, we can say that North America is a market where profits can be made. Fiat was only able to bring 605 cars there last year.
Mega-Panda SUV, pick-up, sedan camper
So the first car in the series is the Mega-Panda. A city car inspired by the Lingotto building in Turin. Round shapes and sustainable materials, such as bamboo, steal the show.
Fiat’s takeover looks very brutal, but it can be too harsh for many people. In any case, it combines the lightness of a commercial vehicle with the comfort of an SUV. Well, and then there’s the big common upload platform of course.
For the fastback sedan, Fiat offers a sporty design that combines the ruggedness of the Cybertruck with the futuristic design of the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Yes, and then there is the crazy camp for which the Volkswagen Buzz could be a minor competitor. Just like the model, Fiat’s concept car is also an example of the 1980s, this time for a Panda from that era.
