Jeep Recon: family SUV with electric offensive: car news, information, scoop

After the Avenger was revealed a few months ago, the second model that should include Jeep’s electric attack is: the Recon. It’s a square-shaped SUV that will arrive first in the US, before being sold in Europe.

It was a few days ago. During the “Jeep 4xe Days” events.“, the SUV and 4X4 brand presented its strategy in terms of electric mobility. Its aim is to be the first brand in the world to offer a complete range of electric SUVs and 4x4s. In Europe, it aims to reach 100% electricity sales by 2030. In the US, its home market, Jeep is still targeting 50%. At the moment, it offers only one 100% electric model: the Avenger, a B-crossover that is just making its debut in Europe.. It was even selected at the last Brussels Motor Show in 2023!

To achieve this big electric goal, Jeep is planning two additional models: Wagoneer S, a premium SUV, and Recon, a more accessible model. The Recon Concept was recently revealed during a presentation at Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and RAM dealerships in Las Vegas. Scheduled for 2024, it will be the first ever 100% electric Jeep offered on the American market.

A large, electric SUV

The exterior design of the Recon stands out with a square and geometric silhouette, which brings it closer to a 4X4 Wrangler than a Compass or Grand Cherokee SUV. The headlights also take on the original shape and the grille is backlit, showing off the seven lines of the famous Jeep logo. The bumper also has two towing hooks, emphasizing its usability. Recon will be equipped with a All wheel drive 4X4 with several driving modes thanks to the Jeep Selec-Terrain system, including Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud and Rock modes.

That’s good its capabilities and degrees of freedom are still unknown, Jeep plans to reveal more information by the end of the year. The Recon is intended for the United States first, but it is expected that it will be sold in Europe, and therefore in France. A little more patience…
