After two years of online awards ceremonies, this year’s ceremony followed the usual procedures and airlines from around the world attended the 2022 awards ceremony at the historic Langham Hotel in London.

The awards, known as the “Aviation Oscars,” spanned 12 months from September 2021 to August 2022, and the results included more than 14 million eligible entrants as Qatar Airways expanded its global network to more than 150 destinations. Qatar’s carrier previously became the first airline in the world to receive a Skytrax Covid-19 safety assessment in January 2021. The Skytrax World Airline Awards, according to the organizers, are independent and impartial. They were established in 1999 to ensure global customer satisfaction surveys.

Qatar Airways for the seventh best time

The Qatari airline also won three additional awards at the London awards ceremony, including Best Business Class in the World, Best Business Class Lounge in the World, and Best Airline in the Middle East. Previously, Qatar Airways was named “Airline of the Year” in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021.

Singapore Airlines took second place and Emirates was named the third best carrier in the world. Japanese airline ANA All Nippon Airways took fourth place, and Qantas Airways reached fifth place. More than 350 airlines were included in the survey. Among the top award winners is Qatar Airways with nine awards, Singapore Airlines also received the same number of awards. Delta Air Lines has won North America with six awards. In Europe, Turkish Airlines dominated with a total of four awards, including the highly competitive title of Best Airline in Europe.
