SlyStyle Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray Cabriolet

SlyStyle Performance is an American automotive specialist. Of course, as a tuner with such an area of expertise, you can’t stop the new Chevrolet Corvette C8. Accordingly, the Krefeld company has put together a modification package for the mid-engined sports car, which not only brings the Stingray version including a convertible variant in the last stage of expansion next to the current top model.

The central element is an aerodynamic device that makes the Corvette look more aggressive and also improves its aerodynamics. When designing it, the designers took the angular accents that were everywhere on the C8, which now form a more frequent motif. The new front apron looks similar to its Z06 counterpart and can be combined with side flaps and a new front splitter. Behind the central grille, an “air duct” captures the incoming air and directs it in a way that makes the open Stingray even more streamlined. The rear apron takes over the look that started at the front with its diffuser elements.

Hind wing: subtle or expressive

On the flanks there are new exterior mirror caps and side skirt panels with protruding fins in front of the rear wheels. When it comes to the rear wing, customers can choose between two variants: In addition to the subtle lip, the Krefeld company offers a curved XL wing in the style of the Z06. Their arrow-shaped side tips are complemented by an arm’s width at the bottom and gloss black trim on the taillights. All add-on parts are made of CFRP/GRP composite, come with a certificate and are factory mounted. Wing door replacement with TÜV approval is currently being prepared.

When it comes to wheels, SlyStyle takes a look at rim manufacturer Schmidt’s shelf. Satin black Drago one piece measuring 9×20 inches (front axle) and 11.5×21 inches (rear axle) can be seen on the red Corvette C8 Stingray model. The blue model uses Schmidt TwentyOne rims, which not only have a special high-gloss finish, but are slightly wider at the front (9.5 inches) and perfectly match the important data of the red sister at the back. 255/30 R20 tires are fitted to the front; At the rear, 325/25 rollers stretch over aluminum wheels. By the way: SlyStyle is already preparing to adapt another rim manufacturer’s wheel design for the Corvette C8.

Engine tuning expected for LT2-V8

The lower collars made of stainless steel were specially designed for vehicles with a factory front lift system, which ensures a lowering of the front axle by almost 20 mm and is approved by the parts certificate. On the rear axle, the lowering of the cars with the Z51 package can be adjusted at the factory to 20 mm. Alternatively, adjustable thread springs can be selected. SlyStyle also takes care of the brakes: the twisted steel lines increase the pressure level and the high power of the system all around, while the ceramic pads reduce contamination from brake dust.

SlyStyle handles the 6.2-liter V8 (factory code LT2) with the expected standard tuning. A high-performance air filter from K&N along with machined intake and exhaust ports ensure better ventilation in the red C8, along with a new ’87 throttle valve. The blue Corvette convertible even uses a 95mm throttle valve, an Eventuri carbon intake system and an upgraded engine program. The standard V8 with 482 hp and a maximum of 613 Nm now pushes out 510 hp and a maximum of 630 Newton meters. In the future, more may be possible: the internal range and the biturbo upgrade should get more power from the LT2 engine.

Italo-oder Muscle-Car-Sound?

On the exhaust side, SlyStyle also relies on several variables. On the one hand, an improvement on the conventional flap system using Grail rear controls. Depending on how they are processed, a high-frequency sound, flashy “Italo-style” or a “muscle car” sound can be heard from the four 114 mm pipes. The complete Grail system and control of the curves through the original buttons in the cockpit of Corvette is also offered, as is a complete, worry-free interior package. For foreign markets, the diesel particulate filter can also be removed on request.

SlyStyle updates the interior of the Corvette C8 Stingray convertible based on carbon. The tuner adds factory-installed carbon fiber elements and additional areas on the center console and between the two backs of the standard sports seats. The flat steering wheel also has carbon top and bottom and uses shift lights to indicate when the shift paddles made of lightweight composite material are in full use.

Improved suitability for everyday use

SlyStyle also keeps the American athlete fit for everyday use. Special camber bearing covers prevent annoying rust in these sensitive areas. Jack holders permanently fixed to the car make it easy to handle in the workshop. A black powder-coated stainless steel radiator guard with a honeycomb pattern like the C8’s factory rear diffuser protects the smooth regulator slats.

Eyes!Performance!

The new Corvette C8 is slowly arriving in Europe with European tuning. SlyStyle from Krefeld has created an aerodynamic kit for the American racer and upgraded the V8 with the expected custom tuning.
