Until recently, the Smart model line consisted of two electric vehicles: the 2-seater EQ Fortwo and the 4-seater EQ Forfour.
The unprecedented popularity of the Forfour and the brand’s new development plans meant that at the end of 2021 the production of this model at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, where – interestingly – the Renault Twingo twins, continues to roll off the line.
Most likely, a similar fate awaits the small Smart soon. Daimler and Geely are jointly developing new models.
Of course, these will only be electric cars, and production will not take place in Europe, but in China.
In addition to changing the assembly area, the Smart brand will switch to larger vehicles from the record-breaking crossover / SUV segments. The newest venture child is expected to debut in 2022.
