At the opening of the Le Mans European Championship season (April 15-17) in France, German sprinter Sophia Flörsch was able to win her own record again. During the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, a woman from Munich with her Algarve Pro Racing team took second place on the podium. Now she is the first woman to get the best results like this at ELMS. Previously, last year he managed to finish third in Portimao in the final race of the 2021. Season, at the time, Flörsch played his first match with the Portuguese race team Algarve Pro Racing.

“It’s been a month now! I can’t believe we managed to get on the podium in two consecutive races, especially since the Le Castellet race is a victory itself,” said Flörsch. The end of the stage in the Circuit Paul Ricard race is more than the team would expect. Second place is the best Algarve Pro Racing result so far on ELMS.

Flörsch on a higher course despite the financial class

The team, which included Flörsch and Dutchman Bent Viscaal, competed from tenth place to the podium. Several safety vehicles and a well-executed pit strategy favored successful races. In the end, the two drivers were simply forced to accept the defeat of the Prema Race.

Four hours later, the Oreca 07 Gibson was separated by 10.93 seconds from the leading race car. However, second place does not mean just a new Flörsch record, because high results are also a new phenomenon for a team of drivers that includes cash level drivers.

“I’m the first woman to finish second on the ELMS platform. Breaking a record like that is amazing and being two Silver players against three teams with Gold and Platinum is very good. I’m pretty sure Bent [Viscaal] and I can also show this form in Imola “, says Flörsch.
