Fiat Pandina: Special model with improved technology

Is the name Pandina an attempt to change the name of the model or the prospect of an April Fool’s joke? Nor, because the press brochure says that the name is “a bow to Italy’s love for the Fiat Panda”. Actually, Pandina is the nickname of Fiat Panda in Italy. The love must be deep, because with the presentation of the model, which has been slightly improved in detail, the manufacturer announces that it not only wants to build the Panda, which is still in production, until at least 2027, but also wants to. increase production capacity by 20 percent.

Helpers arrive

The special unlimited model “Pandina” has a few details that are not found in the standard Panda. This includes a cluster display of the tool and some helpers. It supports fading, emergency stop, maintaining speed and lane. For this purpose, the camera was placed high behind the windshield. Since from June every new car will have to give a warning if the speed limit has been exceeded, we expect that the Panda will also be improved at this stage.

A simple infotainment system with a seven-inch screen is also standard in the Pandina. A mobile phone can be connected via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay via a cable. The seat covers are made from waste fished from the sea. That doesn’t sound like much, but it can make a small contribution to making good use of these scraps.

Known gentle hybrid

The Pandina is powered by the familiar 51 kW mild hybrid, which is now available in the Panda. Usage and performance should be similar to Panda Cross. Fiat mentions 5.2 liters in WLTP and promises 14.7 seconds in the standard sprint and a top speed of 155 km / h. Of course, this does not matter where the 3.71 m short minivan is primarily used. What stands out in the city is its good clarity and the fact that it lowers the Renault Zoe, for example, by almost 40 cm.

No price yet

Pandina will be available from summer 2024. It is not yet known how much it will cost. Considering the standard equipment of the Panda, it will probably be close to the same level as the Panda Cross. It is on the price list from November 2023 for 17,990 euros.
