State Rep. Robin Comey has been apprehended after a car accident occurred in Hartford, Connecticut.
Hartford police have arrested State Rep. Robin Comey following a crash that occurred in the city’s Parkville neighborhood.
According to law enforcement officials, the accident took place the evening of Tuesday, December 17th. The Hartford Police Department stated that the crash involved a single vehicle, with Comey being the only occupant.
The Hartford Police Department said that Rep. Comey was taken into custody following the crash. The police department went on to say that the State Rep. was charged with “operating under the influence.”
No other persons were reported to be involved in the crash.
The Hartford Fire Department responded to the scene to assist with medical attention, and the State Rep. was then transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.
At this time, the Hartford Police Department has not released any further information regarding the crash.
Rep. Comey, who is a Democrat from West Hartford, has been serving in the Connecticut House of Representatives since 2019.
The Hartford Courant reported that Rep. Comey released a statement regarding the crash, saying, “I take full responsibility for my actions and I apologize to my constituents and the people of Connecticut for the poor judgement I exercised. I understand the seriousness of this situation and will accept the consequences of my actions.”
No further comment has been made by Rep. Comey or the Hartford Police Department.
