from 26,500 euros, can it hold against the Renault Captur?

Yesterday morning the prices of the new Renault Captur were revealed. The small SUV from the diamond brand has been given a major upgrade, and the price is still lower than that of its main rival, the Peugeot 2008. But will this more profitable position favor the Captur? Let’s see.

This is one of France’s biggest competitions in the automotive sector. After all, one wouldn’t exist without the other. Renault Captur gives a hard time Peugeot 2008 Last also (just) ahead in the list of sales of new cars in France since the beginning of the year. But the small diamond SUV has just received a major restyling, which should allow it to remain attractive to customers. So the goal is to continue to post good sales figures, but also and above all to return before 2008.

The redesign of the Captur was also an opportunity for Renault to review its prices, trying to control them as much as possible. The good news is, it remains more expensive than its rival from Peugeot, being 1,600 euros less than 2008. The latter sees its prices start at 26,500 euros, compared to 24,900 euros for the Captur. With that difference, we tell ourselves that the equipment should be richer in the Lion SUV, but is it true?

Different engines

Renault’s greatest strength is the variety of engines. The Captur is available in petrol, LPG, hybrid and hybrid versions. Four alternatives to meet customer needs and thus cast the net as wide as possible. In turn, the Peugeot 2008 is offered in petrol, hybrid and 100% electric versions. A different way to it, but which nevertheless allows to benefit from the ecological bonus, for E-2008 at least.

Unfortunately for Peugeot, standard equipment is also to Renault Captur’s advantage. Where the latter offers digital instruments as standard, the 2008 works with analog meters. Both offer rear parking assist, LED headlights and even cruise control. That said, the Captur is also responsible for adjusting the safety distance.

So the Renault Captur offers a little more for less than the Peugeot 2008. Add to that a design that has been recently revised and is therefore clean, and a wide range of engines and you will find the main reasons that should allow the Captur to move. ahead of its competitor in terms of sales. But you should never sell a lion’s skin before you kill it, in 2008 you certainly haven’t said its last word. With the recent updates of the 3008 and 5008, the youngest child in the family seems to be a better choice than ever at Peugeot.
