Stellantis, the fourth-largest auto manufacturer in the world, recently declared the inception of the first of several tranches in a groundbreaking effort to electrify and modernize their global fleet. The company, which is the product of the recent merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA, is currently developing an expansive suite of electric vehicles, including sedans, crossovers, and SUVs.
The initial tranche is set to include a portfolio of 15 electrified models, which are slated to be released in all major markets worldwide by the end of 2021. This installment will boast electrified versions of popular models such as the Fiat 500, Peugeot 2008, and the Jeep Renegade. The vehicles will be powered by a combination of battery electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and will feature the latest in advanced technology such as advanced driver assistance systems and connected services.
Stellantis’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their partnership with three of the world’s leading environmental organizations, WWF, the Climate Group, and The Nature Conservancy. This venture will enable the company to not only develop more efficient and emissions-free vehicles, but to also employ renewable energy sources and implement more efficient supply chain processes.
The company’s aim is to develop a comprehensive portfolio of electric vehicles and to make them available to consumers at a reasonable price. Stellantis recently announced that the first tranche of electrified models will be available at a starting price of €20,000 (approximately $24,000 USD).
Stellantis has long been a leader in environmentally conscious automotive engineering, and their latest endeavor is a testament to their commitment to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future. With the introduction of their expansive suite of electric vehicles, Stellantis is paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient global fleet.
