a new project on the R34 board

Current Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, has a vice: sometimes he feels the need to “let off steam” on board the Nissan GT-R. We say this because it is not the first time: some time ago we told you about the story of a GT-R rented in Japan by an English driver who restored it in perfect condition.

In the previous incident, Hamilton revealed that the car rental (or rather: the result of what it involved) did not go well with the Omoshiro Rent-A-Car company. However, it seems that Hamilton did not think much of the criticism, as he soon repeated the experience, once again crossing Tokyo in a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34. The main difference from his previous fight is that this time Hamilton has chosen one GT-R R34 color “Bayside Blue”similar to the one used by Brian O’Conner in the movie “Fast and Furious: the first parts only”.

The video, shot by the same photographer as last year, Tim McGurr (aka 13 witnesses on social media), shows Hamilton at the wheel of the Skyline, driving through the endless rain on the streets of Tokyo, speeding down Shuto Road and do stunts in an empty parking lot. Compared to the previous video, this time the technique is smarter and the recording quality is higher, making the whole experience similar to a promotional teaser.

The current Nissan GT-R appears to be facing a steep decline, with sales reaching an all-time low in the first quarter of 2024, with only one car being sold per day. This decrease is attributed to a a big price increase for many years without a commensurate improvement in vehicle performance. Although the model was attractive as an affordable sports car when it was launched in 2007, its current cost exceeds that of 17 years ago.
