Subaru Forester Exclusive Crossover Edition – Anniversary Model

Subaru Forester Exclusive Crossover Edition – Anniversary Model

The Forester has been reliably transporting its occupants from A to B for 25 years – just in time for an anniversary model: the Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition.

Classic, warranty-free, reliable and powerful four-wheel drive – that’s what the Forester has always been known for.

The special model is a small tribute to the quarter of a century in which the car was able to carelessly carve its way out of asphalt and concrete – to the delight of its fans, who love it and remain loyal beyond belief.

As an Exclusive Cross, Subaru thanks its fans for their loyalty and also shows the interested people that now you can also find a good part of unity with this brand, which is sometimes known for its individuality.

Our test car went in the muted metallic color “Magnetic Grey” for an additional 640 euros. driving report.

Inside and outside – effective contrast media

To be clear, the special model shows a variety of uses in bright orange color outside and inside. The selection of orange could also give way to a red signal, because depending on the prevailing light conditions, this detail could also appear as red stylistic devices.

As an “Exclusive Cross”, the Forester was given many color accents.

Externally, these differences can be found in the form of frames and lines on the front and back aprons, as well as the side skirts. In addition, the “e-Boxer” logos were also designed in this vibrant orange.

Viewed from the side, large 18-inch wheels in “dark metallic” are also visible, which perfectly match the exterior color shown here. There is also a lot of black plastic, which adds to the distinctive effect of these applications.

A color accent was also discovered in the interior through a large number of decorative seams and various frames. The latter housed the central console platform, cockpit instruments and door panels. In addition, the steering wheel, floor mats and selector lever for automatic continuously variable were given these orange variations.

internal affairs
In the interior, no expense was spared with accents in this bright orange.

There is also a special plaque on the instrument panel, which is an unmistakable indication of the special status of the model. At the same time, the seats were given a special waterproof cover, which means that, for example, residents with wet clothes – greetings from off-road & Co. – are less affected.

Needless to say, these covers also feature orange stitching and an additional “Sport” tag.

The seats are waterproof in the front and back and a small label adds spice.

The space available in the Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition is also very generous and thanks to the glass panel roof that is standard on this particular model, the interior is also full of light, which also benefits the feeling of space.

Vehicle behavior and handling – Never touch the running system

Or to put it another way: The Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition replaced the proven electronic box from the standard one. Forester. We note that this has a two-liter gasoline engine with 150 hp and an electric motor with 16.7 hp. The total output is given as 150 hp and the electric assist is primarily used to assist during starting and acceleration.

E-Boxer for the engine compartment
No changes – the Forester special edition car remained untouched.

From time to time – if the charge level of the small battery allows it – the Forester can also be started electrically only by using the accelerator pedal wisely and even control a few hundred meters at a time electrically. But you have to prove a lot of sensitivity to the accelerator pedal. Because too little pressure on it and the combustion engine reports back.

selector lever
If you select “M”, you can change the seven levels of simulated driving using the paddle shifters.

Like the real Forester – the Subaru naturally has permanent permanent all-wheel drive. On top of that, there is the “XMode” system, thanks to which you can use the rotary controls on the central console to access different driving programs, which, for example, help to drive safely in snow or mud.

X style
Thanks to “X Mode” you can adapt the car to special road conditions.

The automatic sends power to all four wheels. The so-called Lineartronic is a CVT transmission and it can also simulate seven gears if you are driving in the part load range. It is only when you step on the gas properly that this automatic system reveals itself to be passive and then keeps the combustion engine running at high speed.

Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Side
The performance data of Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross has not changed yet.

In short – Forester is completely Forester and shows all the characteristics of the standard model. This also applies to fuel consumption, which, considering the size of this car, is still average at 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

However, more than one editor had expressed a desire to combine such a custom design with a small increase in performance. But this did not seem to be the goal of the “Unique Cross”.

Equipment, comfort, technology

The Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition is based on the “Comfort” trim, the second largest version available. The difference here is, among other things, that the panoramic glass roof is on the old board, which is otherwise reserved only for the highest variant of the equipment.

panoramic glass roof
A large glass roof floods the interior with plenty of light when needed…

Also standard is the completely revised Eye system, whose stereo camera is now placed directly on the windshield and there is no space in the middle. The portfolio also includes well-lit LED headlights and taillights with LED technology. We don’t want to leave without mentioning the dynamic cornering light, which has been put to good use, especially on winding roads at night.

…but it can also be completely tightened with a manual cover.

A mandatory central screen including a navigation system and connectivity solutions for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard on the all-wheel drive spec.

The second upper display in the middle of the instrument panel also shows the power flow.

The automatic air conditioner can also be controlled by hand signals: show a fist and a bang, it gets two degrees Celsius cold. An outstretched hand heats up by the same amount. Both performed very well in the test.

fog lights
Honeycomb LED fog lights give the model a special touch.

Not only suitable for outdoor fans: The rear camera has its own washing nose, which means that the rear view is protected even in the largest modder.

Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition Price

The starting price for a specific model is currently included 43,890 euros and therefore only 1,100 euros more than the “Comfort” equipment line. When you consider the extra accessories you get with it, this particular model is an impressive offering.

Subaru Forester unique cross front left
The entry-level price of a well-equipped Forester is less than 44,000 euros.

The special model does not have more than 25 additional options compared to the “Comfort” equipment. Not even counting the individual surplus. But what you can count on is a five-year factory warranty up to 160,000 kilometers driven – whichever comes first. Not enough? No problem, because Subaru also offers an extended warranty of 3 years, which is valid for a maximum of 200,000 kilometers. Another plus for the vehicles of the largest four-wheeler manufacturer.

Conclusion – selfishness at the price of business

Not only eye-catching, the Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Edition. But his strange accents speak for themselves and give the “Forest Worker”, who has been smartly refreshed since the last facelift but is perhaps still conservative, a refreshing description.

Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Front
The special style is different thanks to the many visual accents.

In addition, there are various accessories, which, thanks to the clear price advantage compared to standard models, make it more attractive. We find it a pity that there were no modifications to the car in terms of performance in this particular model. And if this was too small, it would still be icing on the cake.

Subaru Forester Exclusive Cross Back
The price advantage is another point that speaks for the unique Subaru Forester Cross.

The anniversary model appeals to all those who love the Forester for all its advantages. That is, on all its durability, longevity and its reliable development regardless of the road surface – and I always wanted to increase unity and uniqueness. Because the comfort level of the all-wheel drive has been slightly revised since the latest facelift.
