An impressive attempt from Caterham. This is the Project V, 272 hp, electric sports car with a range of 400 km and a weight of less than 1190 kg.
Go Project V in production? Yes, it will be available for sale in more or less this form from the end of 2025. And that means it’s a complete departure from traditional Caterham models, which are spartan driving machines with little practicality.
Caterham Project V with three seats
Project V is the so-called 2+1, with two seats in the front and one seat in the middle back. It has a 55 kWh battery, which is hidden in two places on the floor of the car.
Up to 100 km/h in more than 4 seconds
In addition to being light, the Project V, made of aluminum, carbon fiber and composite materials, is also fast. It reaches 100 km/h in more than 4 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h. It can also charge quickly, with a maximum of 150 kW.
Is the electric Caterham Seven still light?
Lightning Seven as an experimental balloon
It’s not the first time Caterham has launched an electric test balloon. A few months ago a small British manufacturer showed off the Saba EV. Caterham does not report how far it can go on its 51 kWh battery. It’s just that he can last about twenty minutes in a cycle.
Its electric motor is located on the rear axle and produces 252 hp and 250 Nm, which takes the EV Seven, weighing less than 700 kg, to 100 km / h in 4 seconds. It is amazing that the car is only 70 kg heavier than the Seven normal.
