There is anticipation in the United States for the launch of the new generation (the sixth since 1992) of the Subaru Impreza that will take place on November 17 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The confirmation of this revelation came from the House of the Pleiades itself which released a teaser image of the Impreza 2024 in which only the two-volume roofline can be recognized but no other details are discernible. The presentation, this one, which currently will not have an impact on Europe where the current Impreza and XV models will continue to be sold (at least until the fourth quarter of 2024).
As the magazine CarAndDriver points out, the announcement does not clarify what is still the main doubt for the American fans of the popular model – if only for the victory of the DNA of the WRX version – in the Subaru range, ie the Impreza design.
Subaru has already presented in Japan and the United States (it took place last September) the Impreza Crosstrek 2024, that is the version of the ‘almost SUV’ that has achieved similar success in North America, with 128,979 registrations of the previous generation against 25,490. of two Impreza volumes in the period from January to October 2022.
Although it is clear that the new model will benefit from the innovation that the latest Crosstrek is based on – a completely redesigned car – it remains to be seen how much will be transferred to the model that represents the entrance to the world of Pleiades, naturally starting from the basic right, namely permanent wheel drive all symmetrical.
This is the case, for example, of the engine that in the current Impreza starts with a 152 bhp 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol unit, while the Crosstrek also offers a 182 bhp 2.5-liter in those markets.
Excluding for now – as some American media assumed – the return of the ‘racing’ STi variant based on the new generation Impreza Sedan, which has already been presented in Japan.
