It’s a shame for Switzerland that the Subaru WRX is no longer offered in Europe. After all, the local Subi fan community is stronger than anywhere else, strict emissions regulations have stopped the WRX, which is why it is offered in North America, Australia and Japan. On the home market, Subaru has now announced a special WRX S4 STI sport, which is limited to 500 units.

Looks a little tame

Visually, the special model stands out from the regular STI with black logos and body accents along with a spoiler rear lip. There are also 19-inch rims from BBS tires and Michelin Pilot Sport 5. Since STDs are only one line of equipment, the look is less offensive than we are used to. The beloved big rear spoiler is missing.

Silver stitching and suede upholstery are characteristic of the sporty interior.

The interior features silver stitching, suede on the sports seats and dashboard, and red STD logos on the seat backs. Additional insulation material in the spare wheel area should ensure more peace and quiet in the interior.

New sports suspension

On the car side, everything remains the same. The 2.4-liter turbo boxer produces 275 hp and is mated to an automatic CVT. Sports suspension, additional controls and a more powerful oil cooler are the only technical changes.

For the new WRX, STDs are just a line of equipment, no longer a separate model.

Subaru expects high demand. However, the specific structure remains limited. If you want one, you must participate in the lottery between January 12 and 28, 2024 – and, if you win, pay the equivalent of around 36,600 francs to Subaru. (Subaru Impreza GT – Swiss Love.)
