This Maserati MCXtrema is a racing MC20 with an extra 100 hp

In the Top Gear editorial team we always love a pun, but with so many sarcasms and other jokes the fun stops at some point. Maserati doesn’t know when to stop laughing. Above is the Maserati MCXtrema, which customers of the MCXperience program put together in the MCXlusiva with a special ‘Beastpoke’ variant as an option. Ha ha…

We have previously seen MCXtrema in prototype form named Project24. Then the car brand promised that the racing version of the MC20 will not have less than 740 hp. In the end there was 730. Still more than enough and the fact that the MCXtrema is almost distinguishable from its concept version makes for a lot.

Maserati MCXtrema specifications

The track car is an MC20 underneath and uses the same 3.0-litre ‘Nettuno’ V6 with twin turbos. With 730 hp, the race car is 100 hp more powerful than the standard MC20. What extra power (and maybe extra reduce power) does it at race speed and Maserati’s top speed, we don’t know.

We also don’t know what the 62 MCXtrema customers are paying for this circuit party. Maserati promises buyers an ‘unprecedented experience’. Since the start of Maserati construction, customers have been able to watch production and make modifications. The car must have been improved as much as possible, although we dare to doubt its effect.

MCXtrema is specially designed

It sounds like a well-known saying: ‘You can buy it in any colour, as long as it’s black’. Customers can choose from three variants, ‘each with its own identity’. The versions are called Tech Beast, Corse and Speed Beast. In addition, buyers can choose two colors for the wheels and three types of seats. Then there is the aforementioned ‘Beastpoke’ variant where customers can choose ‘their own number to add to the color scheme and also choose the color of the steering wheel handles’.

What is ‘unprecedented’ about the software is the extras that come with buying MCXtrema. After purchase, buyers become part of the MCXperience program. Every now and then this group of people comes together with Maserati drivers and technicians on the MCXtrema launch circuit. It sounds a lot like the Corse Clienti program of the neighbors in Maranello.
