Max Schmidt controls the test bike in EWC / IDM Superbike

Before resuming his journey with his BMW at the IDM Bike at Sachsenring next weekend, “Mad Max” Schmidt headed to Le Mans for Endurance.

At Sachsenring, Max Schmidt will return to his main job in IDM Superbike in the Champion-alpha-Van Zon-BWM team, where, after a good performance last year, he has held talks with team boss Werner Daemen for the future. the season. Before that, the man from Wuppertal had his first 24 hour race at Le Mans. He started in the World Endurance Championship and crossed the finish line with his teammates after an exciting weekend of racing.

French team Metiss praised the performance of Max Schmidt in qualifying, who was more than a second faster than the previous best time for the test bike, which has axle steering. Unfortunately, the 14th starting position in the field of 48 teams did not last long after the bike was delayed at the start. But even after that it should remain adventurous.

Three teammates’ falls and a ten-minute spurt sent the team back to the bottom of the standings. The team boss is also happy about the top result: “Max did an impressive job, he made zero mistakes as a rookie and he did it with excellent speed. We are looking forward to Max taking part in the next 24 hours in Le Castellet.”

The Metiss team will not take part in the eight-hour EWC at Spa Francorchamps at the beginning of June. But Schmidt has loved the World Endurance Championship. “Now I’m looking for a starting option in another team,” he explains.
