The entry list for the 2024 Women’s Cycling World Championships is a colorful one. The diversity of the countries where the 24 female pilots come from is unparalleled. Every continent is represented, the participants come from a total of 18 countries.

The most notable participant is undoubtedly Ana Carrasco, who is the leader of the new series as the only world champion in the solo class on the circuit. The Spaniard won the 300 World Supersport Championship in 2018 and has also competed in the Moto3 World Championship for many years.

It will be unusual for the 27-year-old to be surrounded only by women on the starting grid. “In fact, I still believe that we female athletes are equal and can compete together (with men),” Carrasco said in super7moto. “However, I see it as positive that Dorna and the FIM have taken steps to create this world championship. I see this series as a platform for female pilots to develop in the world championship. For me, it is more than a stage. Those who win and reach a good level can continue with the group another.”

Ultimately, that’s the whole point of the FIM: to increase the visibility of women in motorcycle racing so that talent can be discovered and nurtured.
