Our car test with Lamborghini Urus suddenly changed into a family reunion when we were connected to two conventional sports car manufacturers.

There are many stories around Ferruccio Lamborghini. Fact: In 1948, the Italian founded the company “Lamborghini Trattori” and made good money in the years that followed. So good that he drove the Ferrari privately. In 1963, however, that was no longer enough. From then on he built his sports car under the name “Automobili Lamborghini”. Whether it was because he had a dispute with Enzo Ferrari or just promoting tractor production is anyone’s guess. In any case, that is why many Italian farmers can be proud to be the proud owners of Lamborghinis.
Two Lamborghini in the barn
Or even several. Such as Alberto, who cultivates his land near the Lamborghini plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese. And inside his barn is a native Lamborghini tractor from 1969 and one from 1983. However, when we passed his farm in the current Lamborghini Urus, we did not know. We are “looking for” a place to photograph a bull. Before that, we tried the most powerful SUV in the vicinity of Bologna. Despite weighing 2.2 tons and a height of 5.11 meters, a fighting bull can be driven over narrow mountain paths, catapult itself up to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds and reach 305 km / h when the road is open.
Over 50 years of rustic charms
The Lamborghini R230 from 1969 and the Lamborghini 784 DT from 1983 are located a mile from there. They do not give even a tenth of it, passing through Emiglia-Romagna at a top speed of 23 km / h. Alternatively, the usual car quartet drawers are suitable for Urus. For example, 784 DT can throw four cylinders in balance, Urus has twice as much. In 1969, power-hungry farmers could choose between version 30 and 39 hp. The Russian buyer does not (yet) have this option of several engines, but gets 650 horses per se under the hood. But some talent is important to the tractor nonetheless. First and foremost as a working horse on the field, which we still do not drive with Urus despite all-wheel drive, in contrast to the torque vector. There is a great deal of respect for scratching beautiful 22-inch wheels or expensive paintings. All three stand in line for a family photo today after Alberto takes his two Lamborghini out of the warehouse. After all, Italians love not only cars, but also family trips. And that is often the case with Sant’Agata Bolognese. We will also be happy to come back the next time we try the bull.
