System 1 | Porsche is still waiting for Vettel’s decision

Sebastian Vettel left Porsche pending his decision on his return to racing, in the leading category such as the WEC, the World Endurance Championship.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, whose seat is still up for grabs until 2025, recently admitted that the four-time world champion is currently “flirting” with a comeback.

However, Red Bull have ruled out a reunion with the 36-year-old German, while Wolff does not see Vettel as a real contender to replace Lewis Hamilton next year. And if Vettel expressed his desire to return to Formula 1, he did not insist too much on this topic.

However, there seems to be a place for Vettel in the Porsche family, and the 53-time Grand Prix winner recently tested the Porsche supercar for the WEC and Le Mans.

Vettel has yet to contact the German automaker for a response.

“We have read in the media that he is negotiating with several people, but we only know that he has not yet decided what he will do,” announced Urs Kuratle, director of Porsche Motorsport.

“We also don’t know if, where or when he will reappear among us. We will find out in the coming weeks.”

Porsche recently delayed the planned announcement about the full line-up of drivers for the third hypercar for the legendary 24-hour race in 2024.

“We always look at what is best for the team,” adds Kuratle. “We have a lot of good drivers.”
