The Swedish premium electric brand had mildly revised its Polestar 2 model for the year 2024. Visually, the innovation is not visible, but the crossover sedan has made a big step forward in other areas.

The tested long-range single-engine version of the Polestar 2 costs less than 50,000 euros.

Until the Polestar 3 goes on sale in the summer of 2024, the Polestar 2 crossover sedan will be the only model that the Swedish subsidiary of Geely has been offering in Germany since 2020. In 2023, the Polestar 2 was registered 6,288 times in this country. The luxury electric car has now achieved the respectable level of visibility on German roads and at charging stations.

For the 2024 model year, Polestar has given its crossover sedan a very mild visual upgrade and some technical innovations: In the single-motor version, the model now has rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive. There is also less horsepower. Above all, the Swedish charging manufacturer has improved the battery and thus increased the range.

The price of the Polestar 2 in the standard 200 kW/272 hp single-engine version with a WLTP range of 505 to 546 km starts at 46,275 euros. The so-called Innovation Boost of 4,500 euros, with which the premium manufacturer pushes the sales of this model until the end of June, has already been cut. Thanks to Innovation Boost, leasing for commercial customers starts at 399 euros per month with no down payment plus VAT. Private customers have to pay an additional 80 euros per month for the basic version.

We tested the Polestar 2 in the Long Range Single Motor version. A 400-volt lithium battery with a capacity of 82 kWh is installed in this model. The official WLTP range is 610 to 655 km. The test car had an output of 220 kW/299 hp and 490 Nm of torque. It takes 6.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Unlike Volvo models, which are all limited to 180 km / h, Polestar 2 only stops at 205 km / h.

The price of the long-range single-engine version including Innovation Boost starts at 49,975 euros. This price already includes the usual extensive equipment. This includes, among other things, LED lights, continuous high beams, rain sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, parking assistance, four cameras that enable a 360-degree all-round view, and a whole arsenal of active and passive security systems.

The test car also had the optional Pilot package, which costs 2,500 euros and includes Pilot Assist and adaptive cruise control, as well as the Plus package, which costs 4,800 euros. This includes, among other things, a panoramic roof, a heat pump and a high-end sound system. What we discovered during testing can be found in the photo gallery.
