Presented as the equivalent of the traditional end-of-the-year updates, the Christmas update, this new version is a pleasant surprise. Although it is not yet available, Tesla is planning its launch for this spring, the brand has already shared several details on the new services to expect.

New interface when the car is stationary

The update will provide a modified interface for Model 3 and Y with AMD chips, that is, cars manufactured from 2022. So there is no Tesla Model 3 and Y with an Intel chip, which is a division.

As you can see, Tesla includes a new interface that will only appear when the car is stopped, with expanded controls for playback and quick access to recent items, favorites, as well as a small map to navigate when using Autopilot.

Very good news, the watchdog mode will not only send an alert notification: you will also be able to view the captured videos live, to check if it is a false alert or not. Tesla notes that this work will not be available in the country, certainly because of regulations.

For Model X and S too, more recently

The “Auto Shift Beta” options are new to the latest versions of the Model S and X. Those also have an AMD chip.

It will allow automatic switching between forward and reverse drive modes depending on the environment, an addition that follows Tesla’s removal of manual shift control on some models, with the long-term goal of controlling speed changes completely autonomously.

Tesla will also improve its on-board software offering with the introduction of the software It sounds dedicated (already available on Android Automotive) and an update to its Spotify app, which promises better synchronization of playlists between different devices and vehicles, as well as customization of the speed of play.

The update will also bring a “Hands-Free Trunk” feature to certain models, allowing automatic trunk keying by standing behind it with your phone key.

In addition to these additions, Tesla plans to increase the speed adjustment on certain models, which should improve the range significantly.

Finally, to improve the rear passenger experience, current trip information, time and temperature will now appear on the top of the rear touchscreen on equipped vehicles. Still on Model S and X, more recently.

Although Tesla did not mention the exact date of the release, this update is expected in the coming weeks. As usual, everything will be done via OTA update, directly on the car.
