Lotus is working on its own fast charging network à la Tesla, but better. Electric speed chargers outperform other DC chargers.

Elon Musk’s company is currently the master and master in the field of fast payments. Not because the V4 superchargers charge very fast (250 kW) – there are posts from Ionity, Fastned and Allego that charge up to 100 kW fast – but more because Tesla has the largest fast charging network (more than 50,000 Superchargers) in the world. .

In that case, Lotus still has a lot of work to do. However, the brand already seems to have an advantage over Tesla. Lotus has fast chargers that can charge up to 450 and 480 kW.

Most electric cars still can’t handle this fast charging speed. For example, Eletre can charge up to 350 kW and Tesla Model S Plaid up to 250 kW.

However, there are cars that can charge so fast that this Lotus pole is very slow. In the video below, Autovisie editor Dries van den Elzen takes you to the Rimac Nevera. This electric hypercar can charge quickly up to 500 kW.

Rimac needs that too. With 1914 hp and 2360 Nm, the 120 kWh battery is in no time.

Also in Europe

Lotus is not just focusing on its home market of China, where several fast chargers are already installed. Charging stations must serve customers around the world. The pillars are also expected to be available in Europe in the second quarter of 2024.

Whether the brand will ever become a significant competitor to the Tesla Supercharger remains to be seen. There are also many other service providers who would like to establish a large payment network, for example Mercedes!
