The Chrysler Halcyon is not the electric car we expected

Chrysler it only sells pickup trucks since sedan production ended recently 300. This will be the case in 2024 and a good part of 2025, the year in which the brand plans to launch its first electric car on the market. This will take the form of a crossover.

We know that it will be different Concept Airflow of 2022 and we hoped that the new concept released today would give us a better overview, but unfortunately it is not the case. What you see here is more than the future.

Chrysler Halcyon takes the elements of a sports car and includes a new philosophy of “harmony in motion” that the company would like to put forward, an expression that its CEO has repeatedly repeated to us , Christine Feuell, during the presentation of which Car Guide it has helped.

It is built on a platform A great STLA of Stellantis, the same which will be used for Dodge Charger electric, Halcyon has all the rough and sharp sides of a foreign car, with a low and narrow stance, large wheels (22 inches) and very aerodynamic lines. What sets it apart above all else is the downward-facing windshield integrated into the glass roof, giving the driver and front passenger an unparalleled view.

Access to the passenger compartment is through large doors that open on the other side. The roof section on each side, made of glass with an adjustable opening, can even be hung up to widen the opening. The back window is part of the back door.

There are four seats in this decoration made of 95% durable materials, which belongs to a level 4 car, which is to say that the steering wheel and pedals can disappear at the required time. The console can also be used to rest the feet for more relaxation. Do you want a higher position? The front seats fold back into the rear seats, which can be folded back into the trunk like the new generation Stow ‘n Go system. And there is no safety scare, Chrysler assures us, because the airbags are properly designed.

There are larger digital instruments as well as a 15.6-inch retractable and rotating screen, not to mention a head-up display with augmented reality. Everything is powered by the STLA Brain computer platform with artificial intelligence and software update capabilities. A very useful online assistant is also at the service of the residents.

Halcyon’s list of functions and concept technologies is very long, thank you. On the other hand, it is not a word about technical ability and performance. What we also have to tell you is that an induction charging system is integrated under the car to recharge the battery when moving on future roads designed specifically for this purpose.

In short, this is all good and can make you dream, but in our opinion, Chrysler should focus its efforts on its first electric car expected in 2025, not those of 2035.
