Cadillac’s first electric car finally arrives in France, here is its price

Seven years after disappearing from France, Cadillac is finally coming back here. And with this, the American company is launching its Lyriq, a large high-end electric SUV that rivals the Tesla Model Y. We finally know its price, and it will be rather steep.

It’s been a while since we last saw a Cadillac on French roads. And for good reason, the General Motors group has left France since 2017, when its Opel brand was bought by the PSA group, became Stellantis in 2021.

Great return

It had already been a few years since the American group hinted that it would return to European soil. And we already knew that Cadillac would be one of the first brands to come to us, just like GMC would have its Hummer EV. Well now it is done. We announced last February that Cadillac would be bringing us its Lyriq. And here we are!

After arriving in Switzerland, the top SUV is finally available in France. This is what is announced by a communiqué of the brand, which confirms that this new arrival can already be ordered online. In addition, at the launch of this rival Tesla Model Y, but also to a lesser extent Peugeot e-3008, it is now possible to get behind the wheel. The manufacturer will set up a test center in the center of Paris.

The end will be at the Fauchon hotel, in the 8th area of the capital, from March 25 to April 19. Later, tests will also be offered to the general public throughout France, to allow buyers to familiarize themselves with the electric SUV that is still not widely known here. Orders will be opened starting Saturday March 23. And finally we know the price of this new arrival, which has a 100% electric engine.

Be careful, because the end will not be within reach of all budgets, on the contrary. Here, the new Cadillac Lyriq will definitely be on display from 81,200 euros. High price, while the Tesla Model Y now starts at 44,990 euros and is eligible for an ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. Which will not be the case for his American rival.

An interesting destiny

But what do we deserve at this price? In its entry-level version, the electric SUV comes with standard and premium equipment, which includes a large 33-inch curved OLED screen with Google-connected services. Several USB-C ports are also integrated into the cockpit, including a wireless smartphone charger. The driver and passengers can benefit from a heated steering wheel and front and rear seats, as well as a massage function.

The list of driving aids is also extensive, including, among other things, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking assist or even adaptive cruise control. We’ll probably have to wait until the launch of the top-of-the-line version to take advantage of Super Cruise’s semi-autonomous driving, which isn’t offered in an electric SUV configuration. Note that a panoramic roof and 21-inch rims also come standard.

Cadillac Lyriq

For the record, the Cadillac Lyriq has a large NMC (nickel – manganese – cobalt) battery that has a capacity of 102 kWh. Which is very large and therefore increases the weight and use to a great extent. That is why freedom remains limited, as it is declared only 530 km according to WLTP cycle. Which is not much compared to the 700 kilometers of the Peugeot e-3008 with 98 kWh.

But Lyriq is heavy, not less than 2.77 tons. He can also collect 190 kW load with direct current, which allows to get 200 km in 15 minutes. Charging from 20% to 80% takes about 40 minutes, which is a very long time.

It develops no less than 528 horses and 610 Nm of torque, while 0 to 100 km / h is achieved in 5.3 seconds with a maximum speed of 210 km / h. The first deliveries will start next June or July.
