Tesla will cut the number of part-time workers at its only European factory near Berlin by three hundred, ANP reports. These are flexible workers who worked at Tesla through a recruitment agency.

“As far as we know, our contract partner has already been able to transfer many of these temporary workers to new jobs with other customers. This is not a layoff of Tesla employees,” a spokesperson told the news agency. Tesla recently announced plans to cut more than 10 percent of jobs worldwide.

Last month, the company announced it had hired several hundred temporary workers at its factory in Grünheide, on the outskirts of Berlin. More than 12 thousand people are currently working there.

This week it became clear that Tesla will cut more than 10 percent of jobs worldwide.

Tesla has been struggling with disappointing sales for some time, mainly due to fierce competition in the important Chinese auto market.
