This is the real Kia Niro EV lineup

Electric cars generally use more than the manufacturers say. The result is a slightly better range than you might expect. This time we test the Kia Niro EV driving range.

The difference in the specified WLTP range and the actual range is large for some vehicles. For this reason, Autovisie tests the actual average driving level in practice with the air conditioning and radio on. This way you know better how far you can go with an EV.

Kia Niro EV

Autovisie powers the Kia Niro with a 204 hp electric motor on the front wheels that draws its energy from a battery pack with a capacity of 64.8 kWh. According to the manufacturer, you can drive 463 kilometers on a full battery charge.

Actual frequency

The cold during the test clearly affected the performance of the Kia Niro EV, because its consumption (without the heat pump) was higher than stated by the manufacturer. This gave the electric car a range of 329 km.

Come on
Average Consumption (WLTP) 16,4 kWh/100 km
Consumption Measurement 19,7 kWh/100 km
Range (WLTP) 463 kilometers
Measured Frequency 329 kilometers
Payment time 10-80% 43 minutes
Rated Charging Time 10-80% 62 minutes

Despite the battery heating function that responds to scheduled charging stations, Kia was disappointing on the fast charger in the winter. The charging speed of the Kia Niro EV only exceeded 70 kW in a very short time and usually remained around 40 to 50 kW, so you need (more) more hours for a 10 to 80 percent charge.

Cycle of use

Autovisie tests the application independently in the Netherlands during the Autovisie double test. Please note that the usage may vary because it depends on your driving style, but also on the weather and many other factors.
