the most expensive convertible in the world

Rolls-Royce has just unveiled the third model of its iconic Droptail convertible. Named Arcadia, this particular model required more than 8,000 hours of work to create its wooden veneer and five months of assembling the clock in a cabinet.

In the luxury car industry, there is some competition. But what brand can boast of being more refined and unique than Rolls-Royce? British manufacturer Rolls-Royce delivers once again by introducing the third of four examples of its two-seat Droptail convertible. After the releases of “La Rose Noire” and “Amethyst”, discover “Arcadia”.

Mythe grec

The (very wealthy) customer who ordered this divine variable appreciates Greek mythology. Indeed, the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail takes its name from the myth of the kingdom of Arcadia, which is depicted by the ancient Greeks as a paradise on earth. “Like the port that inspires its name, the Arcadia Droptail was envisioned by the client as a quiet space characterized by simplicity, a depth of material and wisdom, which can serve as a refuge from the rigors of professional life » explains the manufacturer. The designers also included references to Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam which are the client’s favorite regions.

Pure beauty

The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail wears an elegant white bodywork decorated with aluminum and glass particles to create the illusion of infinite color while the gray painted carbon hood, unique to the Droptail, sets it all apart. The grille and large 22-inch rims have been completely polished to a glass finish.

Unique woodworking and watchmaking

The show continues in the cabin with two-tone white and brown leather upholstery. But what’s striking about Arcadia is its rosewood furniture. Rolls-Royce notes in its press release that the plating will require more than 8,000 man-hours between manufacturing, lacquering and installation of 233 pieces of wood, including 76 for the back only. And as if that wasn’t enough, the core of the material used will be “Santos Straight Grain”, known to be very fragile when handled. Varnish is made mainly of precious wood so that it can withstand all climates, “including tropical”. Another main attraction of the clean convertible sits on the dashboard. It is the most complex watch ever made by Rolls-Royce, consisting of 119 geometrically patterned stainless steel parts.. Assembling a famous watch requires no less than five months of work, after two years of design in the manufacturer’s design offices. That’s what we call taking your time…

The price of separation?

The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is powered by a 6.75 liter V12 inline engine that develops over 600 hp. It is enough to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 5 seconds, even if in this case, performance is not the main word with the English converter. As you can imagine, the price is commensurate with the work done. Others are talking about a price of more than 20 million pounds, equivalent to 23.39 million euros.. Others gamble more with a total of around 30 million. Luxury also means not looking at the price.
