Because the goal was to get more functionality out of what was already developed BMW to play outside. And that was already more than good and bad: M4 already got 1200 hp on the test bench. That’s more than double the maximum 530 hp in the production model. But the filters wanted more, fitted the engine with a new supercharger, updated the transmission and installed nitro injection.
The third measure was a disaster
At first it seems like the plan is working. Even when testing without nitrous, performance increases 1300 HP, in the second run, this time with nitrous oxide injection, the M4 even got 1365 HP on the test bench. In retrospect, the developers probably would have left it at that, but they decide: There’s more! And begin the third terrible experiment.
At this point the engine will suddenly stop working. Suddenly smoke comes out of the engine compartment, so much so that the whole car is quickly covered in it. Two explosions can be seen in the video.
But don’t worry, the M4 survived the drama. The filters even rebuilt it within two days.
