The accord préliminaire between Héma-Québec and its nurses and practical nurses in the Province of Quebec (affiliated with the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN)) has been unanimously ratifié. This agreement was the result of negotiations between the two groups, which have persevered to reach a consensus even amidst the increasingly difficult economic circumstances faced by the region.

The accord provides a needed respite from the prolonged period of negotiations that have persisted since the expiration of the previous contract in April 2019. It also provides a framework for a new three-year contract, commencing on April 1, 2020 and running through March 31, 2023.

The agreement includes a significant increase in compensation for nurses and practical nurses, with a 3.4% increase for the first year and a 3.2% increase for the second and third years. Additionally, the agreement provides for incremental pay increases of 2.7% for each year of service, up to a maximum of six years.
