The Cadillac Lyriq arrives in France and wants to steal customers away from BMW and Mercedes

America’s largest electric SUV arrives in Europe with a price comparable to that of the larger German models. But Cadillac Lyriq has one advantage: almost everything is standard.

General Motors announced its return to Europe at the end of last year. These are the first images of the arrival of the Cadillac Lyriq in France. Although, it must be remembered, the Chevrolet subsidiary has never completely left Europe since the Camaro and Corvette are still sold here. But this time, it is about a completely different brand that has never appeared in the Old Continent. Error is an image that is very “American” and is secret in the conservative market around its big premium manufacturers. anyway, Cadillac is trying again and this time, the manufacturer knows that it will avoid any tax problems with the big V8 as the Lyriq is a 100% electric SUV.

Is it better than BMW iX or Mercedes EQE?

The Cadillac Lyriq could appeal to customers who like German SUVs© Mercedes

Since the Model Tesla BMW iX, Mercedes EQE SUV and Audi Q8 e-tron will therefore find themselves on the way of the American who nevertheless has a good chance to play with a list of generous equipment and above all a reduced number of options. This has always been the motto of the Americans: they always knew that it would be difficult to compete with the three Germans in Europe, so it was necessary to play on other parameters, such as standard equipment.

Lyriq is fully equipped, including, among other things, :

  • Nappa leather package as standard
  • advanced driver assistance systems
  • panoramic glass roof and electric sunshade
  • 21 inch rims
  • Heated and ventilated front seats with massage function
  • 33-inch central screen
  • AKG Studio 19HP sound system
  • active noise cancellation
  • Super Cruise semi-autonomous operating system

On paper, the Cadillac Lyriq will therefore offer more than its German competitors at the same price. However, it remains to be seen if customers are ready to get behind the wheel of an SUV, knowing that the network is not there in France in terms of after-sales.

What is the price of Cadillac Lyriq?

Cadillac kept it simple with just two fines, sold at the same price: €81,200. Luxury and Sports will let you choose between two very different atmospheres. In both cases, the range is announced at 530 km (102 kWh battery) and 0 to 100 km / h in 5.3 seconds. The charging capacity reaches 190 kW which is partially correct. The Mercedes EQE SUV starts at €84,900, the BMW iX at €84,200 and the Audi Q8 e-tron at €89,100. And all three are less equipped than the Lyriq and their entry-level version…
