the competition is no longer responding!

The BMW 3 Series has gained a significant advantage over its long-time rivals, the Mercedes C-Class and the Audi A4. If the sedan and the star were renewed recently, that cannot be said about that of the brand and ring, the current generation that was introduced to the list in 2015. But regardless of their age, none of them can send sales. rates as well as Series 3, despite its base price of 45,000 euros.

Although not cheap, German premium sedans continue to attract some customers. And especially the BMW 3 Series which, for some time now, has gained the upper hand over its two historical rivals, the Mercedes C-Class and the Audi A4. Over the first three months of the year, the Bavarian brand registered almost 1,000 examples of its sedan. This figure may seem ridiculous, but we are talking here about the price of the car from 45,000 euros, accompanied by higher maintenance costs than many models that are in front of it in the sales level. It actually sold better than the Peugeot 508!

Then we would be tempted to say that it has been able to stand out from the competition thanks to more attractive prices, but this is not the case. If Mercedes is the most expensive, with a base price set at more than 53,000 euros, BMW and Audi are shown at almost the same price, which is 44,900 euros for the A4 and 45,000 euros for the Series 3.

It is inside that the age difference with the Audi A4 is most noticeable

More assertive behavior

It must be recognized that the Audi A4 is really paying for its great age. Yes, the Ingolstadt sedan is no longer young, as the current generation started in 2015. Those two mild revisions weren’t enough to keep it interesting, especially in the face of the recently updated Mercedes C-Class and the facelifted version of the 3 Series G20. Obviously, the Audi’s aesthetic shortcomings are also found internally, as it does not benefit from the most modern dashboard of the brand’s latest products.

For its part, the BMW 3 Series integrates a double curved digital panel that brings together instruments and infotainment, as well as the usual standard equipment, whether for comfort features or driver assistance. It is enough to compete more seriously with the Mercedes C-Class and its technological range. It is also available with a range of engines, offering a choice between petrol, diesel and even a plug-in hybrid.

EXAMPLES PRICE
Audi A4 35 TFSI 150 ch From 44,900 euros
BMW 318i 156 ch From 45,000 euros
Mercedes Class C200d 163 ch From 53,900 euros

Finally, each of these two competitors has a good reason to explain their low sales. The Audi compensates for its looks and dated interior, while the Mercedes is penalized for its prohibitive price, which it also struggles to justify compared to the 3 Series. Note that this is not the only segment where BMW leads, as the sub-series 1 also holds its own against the Audi A3 and Mercedes A Class.
