The BMW Open in Munich was interrupted due to rain – the start falls

The weather forecast for the BMW Open does not bode well. On Monday, rain disrupted the plans.

As feared, the ATP tennis tournament in Munich started with an unwanted rain break. The scheduled opening match between England’s Jack Draper, who is number six, and Vit Kopriva from the Czech Republic could not start due to the rainy weather. Light showers and heavy showers dominated the picture at the clay court building north of Munich. “Don’t play before 1pm,” the organizer said on social media.

The top favorites around Zverev don’t join until midweek

In addition to the clash between Draper and Kopriva, a match between Dominik Thiem, the former US Open winner from Austria, and the Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas was also scheduled for Monday. German duo Max Rehberg and Rudi Molleker should also play their games. They will compete with Alex Michelsen from the USA and the Italian Francesco Passaro.

Major favorites in the tournament, including top seed Alexander Zverev, will not compete until later in the week. Hamburger has to win above all against Holger Rune, who is number two. The Dane can already boast two victories at the BMW Open.
