The Electric Mini Aceman will be launched next week: we already know this

You may have also noticed: there is a gap in the Mini range. For example, you can currently choose from different versions of the Cooper – one petrol and one electric – but if it’s too small for you, you should upgrade to the Countryman immediately. It immediately connects itself with the other end of the spectrum because since the change of generation it is not less than 4.43 meters long. You can no longer go to the late Clubman if you’re looking for something between the two, but don’t worry, because reinforcements are on the way.

Cooper-based…

Mini has announced that it will pull the curtains on its new Aceman at Auto China, the Beijing auto show next week. It will be more difficult than the new Citizen because the German Brits were kind enough to reveal that the ferry will be 4.08 meters shorter. In doing so, it chooses a good middle ground between its big brother and the new Mini Cooper, which will probably share its technical base.

The Aceman will also be electric only and, according to Mini, will use the same 54.2 kWh battery that we already find in the Cooper SE. So you can also rely on its powerful electric motor on the front axle, good for 218 hp. However, there is a small chance that this will be the only motorization that the Aceman will have, because the platform of course also allows the basics of the regular Cooper E. It has a power of 184 hp and a battery pack of 40.7 kWh under the ground.

…Citroen-looking?

Aceman’s appearance is also a bit of a mystery again, and that’s not just because Mini has already sent a few teaser images. The upcoming competition has already been leaked online in full glory, thanks to the clever officials of the Chinese Ministry of Transport. We learned that it retains the design of the Aceman Concept that preceded the production model, complete with almost Citroën-worthy ‘Airbumps’ under its flanks.

Mini Aceman 2022 Concept

When Mini showed the concept car to the world, it said that the production model will not see the light of day until 2025. However, it turns out that it is not necessary to wait long for the electric crossover: the curtain will come down on April 24 or 25, when the press conferences of BMW Group will be held at the Beijing Motor Show.
