The new Land Rover OCTA ranger, spy shots of the tests at the Nurburgring

A few days ago, Land Rover announced that by the end of 2024 it will debut the new Defender Octa, described as “The strongest defender ever“. At the same time, the automaker had shared teasers that allowed us to see some details of the car. Now, we can better understand the shape of the new model thanks to a series of spy photos which shows the car during a test session at the Nurburgring.

The Defender Octa mule still features camouflage and films covering the bodywork. However, several aspects of its appearance can be noted. For example, at the front, the grille has been modified, probably to improve engine cooling. Additionally, we can see extended wheel arches and a new wheel design. We already know that the Beki Octa will also be able to rely on a braking system developed by Brembo.

As for the engine, Land Rover limited itself by saying that it is a Bi-turbo V8 with mild hybrid technology. Although no further details were given, it is likely that the 4.4 liter unit found in the Range Rover Sport was chosen, capable of producing 635 HP (467 kW) and 750 Nm of torque.

Land Rover also hopes that the new Defender Octa will be able to count on the 6D Dynamics suspension system. It is a solution that combines integrated hydraulic shock absorbers, height-adjustable air springs and semi-active pitch control. All this should ensure a reduction in pitch and roll.

Delivery is still a few months away. Therefore, it is likely that more information will arrive before the first match that will allow us to better understand the characteristics of the new Defender Octa.
