The Pagani Imola costs $5.2m and only 5 were made

There is rare, then there is Pagani Imola.

Launched in 2020, the unique hypercar is named after the historic Italian circuit where it was designed and fine-tuned.

Five production units were built, including Horacio Pagani’s model.

And expectedly, each one sold out immediately despite having a price tag of $5.4 million before tax.

But for that money, you get a heck of a lot.

To begin with, the Pagani Imola was well-repaired at 16,000 kilometers (10,000 miles), which Italian hypercar manufacturer it says it is “the most rigorous track verification test ever applied to a Pagani car”.

To put that into perspective, that’s roughly three times the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Not only that, but it comes with an updated version of the Huayra’s standard 6.0-liter turbocharged Mercedes V12.

The lump, mated to a seven-speed sequential gearbox from Xtrac, produces 827 bhp and 811 lb-ft of torque – 74 bhp more than the track-oriented Huayra BC.

Pagani never released precise performance details, however, it is believed that the Imola has a 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) time of less than 3 seconds and a top speed of around 386 km/h (240 mph).

The limited-edition Hipagari weighs just 1,246 kg, thanks to the use of carbon fiber and titanium in the construction of its main monocoque.

Additionally, Pagani claims its Acquarello Light painting system saves 5 kg over the weight of a conventionally painted car, too.

Looks wise, it’s easy to see the similarities between the Imola and the Huayra.

Like the Huayra, the Pagani Imola also has quad exhausts, an elliptical rear grille and a unique, Formula-1 hood.

However, the model’s tracking ability is highlighted by a roof-mounted air scoop, a large rear wing and a diffuser installation to improve aerodynamics.

It might not be the most luxurious of cars (Horacio Pagani’s words, not ours), but we’re betting it’s one heck of a beast on the track.
