As a rule, the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, held on the streets of Baku, is full of interesting situations, and the fights are very intense here. Meanwhile, this year the entire action took place on the first lap, after which we had 40 “process” laps. And although it wasn’t the most exciting race, it showed us one thing – Red Bull has incredible speed, Sergio Perez loves street circuits and Aston Martin knows how to climb to the top.

So far, since 2016, no one has won here twice. At the same time, Checo Perez not only took first place in the race, but also in the race. His pace and handling was good, although a slight encounter with the front right wheel would have cost him not only the position, but also the possibility of finishing the race.

Perez’s victory also increases the fight for number 1. Max Verstappen unexpectedly has a strong rival in his backyard, giving him no chance even on the most demanding tracks.

However, it is worth paying attention to the speed of the Ferrari. After problems at the beginning of the season, the Italians have found a balance that allows them to compete at the top. Charles Leclerc was driving brilliantly, but he couldn’t match the speed that Red Bull has.

We are talking here, above all, about the high speed on the straights and about the fully functional DRS, which brings the navy blue cars into space.

The Italians clearly worked out the weaknesses of their new car and understood its characteristics. Let’s hope the team led by Fred Vasseur shows more claws this year. So far, however, they are far behind in general classification.

Aston Martin presents a new look. Alonso is like a big brother to Stroll

Nando feels good behind the wheel of his new car. In addition, the team game at Aston works in their favor. A year ago, no one would have predicted that this team would be second overall after four races. And no one thought that Stroll and Alonso would form an equal duo, playing for one goal.

They know the title is out of their reach. The goal is a higher position in the overall standings, giving them momentum for the coming seasons. So, we could hear Nando recommending Stroll’s (probably incorrect) brake balance settings, and Stroll asking for clarification from Fernando so he wouldn’t attack him.

The W14 car has not yet received the necessary modifications to improve its capabilities. However, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell reduce the maximum from this car, although this is usually enough to stay around 4-8 places, which is not satisfactory for this team.

By the way, the biggest disappointment of the season so far is Nyck de Vries

The driver dominated in F3, F2 and Formula E. He scored the first points in his only F1 race at Monza in 2022 (driving the Williams of Alex Albon, who was absent for health reasons). Many people said it was a show of his ability and skill.

Meanwhile, the Dutch driver has been disappointing at every turn so far. Small mistakes and average speed (outside of Tsunoda) show that his future in F1 could end very quickly.
