Citroen C3 received the prestigious “2023 WORLD URBAN CAR” award at the 19th edition of the WORLD CAR AWARDS. The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 5, during the opening of the New York Auto Show, after a vote of more than 100 journalists from 32 countries. The C3 won the title in the Urban Car category, which is open to all low-end vehicles. of 4.25m which are sold in at least two major markets (China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, USA) and at least two different continents.

Citroen success
The new C3 marks the beginning of a new face for Citroën, with designs that are both faithful to the spirit of the brand and carefully researched and developed by in-house teams to provide a practical answer to the specific needs of each market. Taking into account the knowledge of society, culture and needs of both regions, the New C3 is a model designed, developed and manufactured for India, Asia and South America. This strategy has been commercially successful, resulting in the C3, which has had a significant impact on Citroen’s operations in these two regions.
The first model produced in India
In India, where we are launching the Citroën brand, the C3 plays a big role. It is the first model specifically designed and mass-produced locally. With nearly 7,000 units sold since its launch in the summer of 2022, it has helped the brand increase sales by nearly 880% last year. This success is also reflected in the excellent reception of the ë-C3, the electric version of the C3 produced in India, for which early orders are very promising.
It is becoming more and more popular in Brazil
In South America, where the C3 has been available since October 2022, more than 14,000 units have already been sold. In Brazil, it is already the 6th in its segment. In Brazil, in a market that shrank by 1%, Citroën posted 37% growth in 2022. The C3 will be able to capitalize on this momentum by attracting new customers and relaunching a long-established brand.
The success of the C3 in these two areas is a real boost to Citroën’s growth and a tribute to the success of its strategy to increase the brand’s global presence and reduce its dependence on Europe. In 2022, India and the Asia-Pacific region alone saw a sales increase of around 57%, while Latin America saw a 21.2% increase.

In India, the new C3 has won 12 awards since its launchincluding ‘Hatchback of the Year 2023’ from popular publications such as Top Gear India, Car India, Indian Vehicle Awards and Motorscribes. Reviewers praise its natural looks, performance and impressive ability on Indian roads in tough driving conditions due to its good suspension system. Journalists appreciated its original design, modern dashboard, 10-inch touchscreen – the widest in the segment – and large ground clearance of up to 200 mm. The “Compact SUV of the 2023 Year” award from Motor Vikatan magazine recognizes its comfortable price ratio and a comfortable interior with SUV-like driving space. The C3 was also named “Car of the Year 2023” at the Jagran HiTech Awards for the best technology products.
In South America, it won its first prize in Brazil, being named “National Car of the Year” on November 8, 2022, just two months after its launch. It is the most prestigious award of the “Car Awards Brazil 2023” presented by Car Magazine. In this thirteenth edition, the criteria for selecting the best commercial launch were market share, technological innovation and design. It also won the “Best Domestic Car up to 1.2 liter” award from the Abiauto press association.
