Five years after its market debut, DS decided to refresh its large SUV. The nickname “Crossback” disappeared from the name, and the bodywork got a new look. A lot has also changed inside and under the hood.

The DS 7 Crossback was the brand’s first independently developed model. It was he who started the stylistic line known for its rich details and unique character. It is difficult to say that five years have left a big mark on fashion. Despite this, the French decided to make visible changes.

DS 7, which now does not have the nickname “Crossback”, received new lighting, a redesigned radiator grille and a bumper with attractive lines. LEDs for daytime driving. It looks very attractive and creates a suitable design with the DS Pixel LED Vision 3.0 “diamond” lights, which, unfortunately, have lost the rotating function. However, this does not mean giving up the use of light when opening and closing the car.

At the back, we find a redesigned trunk lid and narrow headlights and a characteristic signature that resembles a three-dimensional mesh. Smaller differences can be seen on the side, where they are limited to new rim designs available in sizes 18-21 inches.

There is also a lot going on inside, where he has come to stay the new DS Iris multimedia system with updated graphics and a 12-inch display. Redesigned digital watches are also common. At the same time, the materials have been improved and customization options have been expanded. Depending on the version, we will get Nappa leather, Claudia leather or Alcantara. Interestingly, unlike other models of the company, the classic gear lever has not been left.

Moving on to the issue of the car, it should be mentioned that DS is clearly considering hybrids. Customers interested in the updated version can opt for a single diesel – 1.5 with 130 HP or one of three plug-in hybrids offered in different power variants. The weakest has 225 HP, and the medium has 300 HP.

What’s new is a 360-horsepower version with four-wheel drive, which allows you to reach the first hundred in 5.6 seconds and accelerate to more than 200 km / h. As usual, each hybrid has a 14.2 kWh battery, which – depending on the manufacturer – it allows you to travel from 65 to 81 kilometers on electricity alone.

We’ll know if this is actually the case in a few months, when the first refreshed units hit showrooms.
