The new generation Toyota Yaris has been registered in Brazil

The new generation of Toyota Yaris appeared in registration photos in Brazil. Already presented in Asia, the completely revised compact could be nationalized by the brand in the medium term and even become a hybrid here. Here’s everything we know about the new feature.

The new Toyota Yaris appears on the record and should be national

Industrial models of the new generation of Toyota Yaris were registered by the brand on the website of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The listed drawings include the complete work of the new Yaris Sedan, which has already been revealed in Asia and, there, is known as the Yaris Ativ.

Although the registration of industrial designs is customary among manufacturers – to protect intellectual property rights -, the process carried out by Toyota may indicate the direction that the brand wants to follow in the domestic market.

The information was revealed after a meeting between the governor of the State, Tarcísio de Freitas, and the CEO of the Toyota Research Institute (Toyota Research Institute), Gill Pratt, at the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland.

At the conference, Toyota’s chief executive announced that the brand will invest in new types of vehicles, “based on the hybrids that the company intends to launch in Brazil”. As it is now Cross of Corolla and Corolla Hybrid, the new national hybrid will have a flexible electric motor, according to the SP Government.

How the new Thai Toyota Yaris Ativ looks

The next generation Asian Toyota Yaris is offered on the DNGA platform, a simplified and cheaper version of Toyota’s TNGA base. Although the model does not yet have hybrid versions in Asia, the base has electrification preparations and may receive a convertible variant in Brazil.

In external dimensions, the new generation Toyota Yaris Sedan has gained 5 mm in length (4,430 mm in total), 10 mm in width (1,740 mm) and 5 mm in height (1,480 mm). The biggest advantage, however, is in the wheelbase, which went from 2,550 mm to 2,620 mm (70 mm extra).

Inside, this model has a new multimedia center with a 9″ ‘floating’ screen (with Android Auto mirror and Apple CarPlay) and an instrument panel with a 7″ TFT screen.

As for the package of driving assistance features, the new Toyota Yaris Ativ for Asia goes beyond the package currently offered in Brazil and brings adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot sensor and automatic high beam.

In Thailand, the new generation Toyota Yaris Ativ is available with a 1.2 liter petrol engine, 94 hp at 6,000 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. With a direct transmission of the CVT type, the third volume promises consumption of up to 23.3 km / l.
