The new Lexus RX debuts with the Lexus Tricity

The latest RX model came to Lexus Tricity for a two-day tour. This is another step for the Japanese brand, unique towards refreshing its category and establishing competition with European competitors. The car kept the proportions of its predecessors, but got a new style, referring to the smaller NX. Major changes also took place inside and traditionally – the hybrid car was modernized. The new Lexus RX is available from PLN 352,900.

It is already the 5th generation of the flagship SUV from Lexus. It will be available in three hybrid models, six trim levels, as well as 11 colors and four types of interior upholstery.

RX 500h: Lexus’ first hybrid

The RX 500h is a breakthrough in the brand’s lineup. It is the brand’s first system to use a 2.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, an electric front engine connected to the PCU, and a compact 76 kW rear electric motor using the e-Axle system. Lexus RX 500h has 371 hp and 550 Nm of torque, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is 6.2 seconds. Power is supplied to all four wheels. Performance is comparable to cars with 3.0-liter V6 engines, but the RX 500h’s hybrid system is 20% more fuel efficient. Average fuel consumption is from 8 l/100 km.

In the new Lexus RX 500h, the DIRECT4 system controls power transfer to all four wheels. In this intelligent four-wheel system, two electric motors and two inverters (front and rear) continue to distribute power and torque between the front and rear axles, adapting to the driving conditions.

RX 450h+: the first plug-in hybrid in the RX range

Starting on the RX 450h+, the plug-in hybrid powertrain is the same as on the NX. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine and an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The rear electric motor and hybrid drive combine to form the E-FOUR’s intelligent all-wheel drive system. The car produces 309 hp and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 6.5 seconds. The expected range in electric mode is 65 km, and the car can reach a speed of up to 130 km / h in electric mode.

The car has a standard 6.6 kWh charger. A full charge of the Wallbox takes about three hours, and using the internal socket, it will take about six hours to recharge the power.

RX 350h: fourth generation hybrid car

The new RX 350h has a fourth-generation hybrid system. The car with a 2.5-liter engine has a combined power of 250 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds. According to the manufacturer, the car consumes an average of 6.3 l/100 km of fuel and emits from 142 g/km of CO2.

The full hybrid uses the same improved components as the RX 450h+ version, including a new, lighter hybrid transmission (up to 22 percent weight reduction) and lower power loss, as well as a smaller and 9% more efficient PCU. E-FOUR with intelligent all-wheel drive is standard.

Luxury accessories and novelties

All Lexus RX models come standard with electronic door handles, tri-zone climate control, smart key, all-new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cloud-based navigation, Lexus Concierge voice assistant with “Hey Lexus” inviteable intelligence, ability to update online and 4 – free summer data plan. Every RX is equipped with the third generation of Lexus Safety System+ active safety systems, which include Pre-Collision Response (PCS) and Pedestrian, Cyclist and Motorcyclist Detection, Lane Keeping Assist (LTA) and Lane Correction, Signal Recognition (RSA) and Driver Alert System (SWAY). A reversing camera and full-speed cruise control are also standard.

The Lexus RX 350h Elegance version with perforated Tahara leather upholstery costs PLN 352,900, and the RX 450h+ Elegance hybrid costs PLN 402,900. The top-of-the-line RX 500h in the F SPORT Edition version costs PLN 470,990.

The premiere of the new RX will also take place tomorrow (Thursday, 29/09/2022) until 20:00 at the Lexus Trójmiasto showroom. In addition, two copies of the outgoing generation RX are also displayed, so you can make a direct comparison of the changes that have been made to this car.
