The new combustion engine Citroen C3 “destroys” the electric car for its price

Six months after the premiere, the French showed the new generation Citroen C3 combustion engine. Compared to the electric model offered so far, it’s a bargain price. In fact, it costs even less than its predecessor.

The fourth generation of the Citroen city debuted in October 2023, as the electric e-C3. The car was valued in our country at PLN 110,650 in the basic dialect of You. It is powered by a 112 horsepower electric motor, which draws electricity from a traction battery with a capacity of 44 kWh. True The range of the Citroen e-C3 is 320 km (based on WLTP).

Now, a combustion variant of this model has appeared on the Polish market. Between its front wheels is a 100-horsepower 3-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1.2. It provides acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.6 s and an average fuel consumption of 5.6 l/100 km.

As a result The range of the Citroen C3 is more than 780 km. So 1:0 for the petrol variant. But the real advantage over the e-C3 is in the charging. The French are asking PLN 71,250 for the basic version. That’s about PLN 39,400 less than an electric car!

As if that wasn’t enough, The new Citroen C3 turns out to be cheaper than the previous generation model. The car, which is still available at dealers of the French brand, was valued at PLN 76,400. And this with only the naturally aspirated 83 engine.

New Citroen However, C3 You is a car with standard standard equipment. As always we get here, among others: 16-inch alloy rims, a set of airbags, a set of ADAS PACK 3 support systems, rear parking sensors and Eco LED lights.

The base C3 also offers manual air conditioning, electric-only front windows, and cloth upholstery. It does not have power windows or a multimedia system.

Instead of the latter, the French add a smartphone holder and an app to connect it to the car to their new model. There are no standard clocks in the cabin of the fourth generation C3 – in their place we have a head screen, which in the You version uses LCD technology.

In the most expensive version of the Max (from PLN 91,300) it is of the TFT type, and the central place of the cockpit is occupied by the multimedia and navigation system and, among others, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In this version, the city crossover also has automatic climate control, electric rear windows and mirrors (heated), comfortable seats and 17-inch alloy rims.

The new Citroen C3 stands out from its predecessor not only with a different body design, but also with a changed character. It is no longer a typical city model, but a crossover that is fashionable at the moment. For this reason, its ground clearance has increased from 13.5 to 16.3 cm.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Citroen C3, now based on the Smart Car platform, has increased slightly, but mainly in length. He is currently 157 cm tall, which is 10 cm taller than before. It is 401 cm between the bumpers and 176 cm wide. These dimensions are very similar to the outgoing model.

The biggest technical innovation in the new Citroen C3 is the use of continuous hydraulic cushions in the suspension. It is known, among others, from the C5 Aircross, they are responsible for providing passengers with higher comfort than in the case of competitive models.
