The new Maserati GranCabrio is better than ever, but it’s missing something

Maserati pulls back the curtain on the new GranCabrio. The GranTurismo’s open sibling is expected to be better than ever, but something is still missing from the nose of this true Italian.

Autovisie drove a new version of the GranTurismo last year. The car is better than its predecessor in many areas.

We also see these improvements in the Maserati GranCabrio. The choice of materials is better and the level of finish is higher than its predecessor. The GT’s seating comfort also turned out to be better. This will not differ (much) in the open version.

In the video below, Autovisie editor Dries van den Elzen takes you inside the Maserati GranTurismo. He tells you everything about the driving characteristics of the car.

However, the GranTurismo, like the Maserati GranCabrio, lacks one important thing: eight cylinders. The new generation offers two cylinders.

The Maserati GranCabrio has six cylinders

The previous generation Maserati GranCabrio and GranTurismo had a 4.7 liter V8. This has now been replaced by a 3.0 liter V6 with twin turbos. This gives less experience, but less production and more power.

The power source produces 542 hp and 650 Nm of torque in the Trofeo, which is currently the only version. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that always sends power to all four wheels. Air suspension with variable shock absorbers is also standard.

The classic Maserati A6GCS was used as inspiration for the design of the new GranCarbio and GranTurismo. The round shapes and rounded grille are reminiscent of a car from the 1950s.

This is the conversion cost

What is also not missing from this Maserati GranCabrio is the hefty price tag. With the Trofeo you will spend at least 292,166 euros in the Netherlands. Cheaper variants will follow later and there will also be a Folgore version with a fully electric drive.
