The Chinese property of Geely Polestar is wasting no time. The company realized that Porsche wants to make money with the combustion engine 911 as long as possible, because “it cannot be electric”, so it decided to stop its German competitor. In 2026, the Polestar 6 will enter the market / former: Polestar O2/ which “Porsche 911 and Taycan are parameters.” If it turns out that Geely is able to produce an electric car with better handling and dynamics than the 911, Germany will have a problem.

Polestar 6, a challenge for Porsche

When it comes to the automotive industry, Chinese companies show amazing flexibility that traditional European or Japanese brands can only envy. Geely was not afraid to change existing combustion platforms (eg CMA from Volvo and Polestar) to electric ones, years ago it also started developing new architectures designed for electricians (eg SEA). Various products of concern are gradually challenging other manufacturers in different segments.

Polestar has already presented the family Polestar 3, announced the Polestar 4 and the smaller Polestar 5 formerly known as the Precept. Polestar 6 is the old Polestar O₂, a car with a body made of glued aluminum (to reduce weight). The point of reference for the car will be Porsche models, including the 911. Accelerating the Polestar 6 from 0-100 km / h takes 3.2 seconds, the total power of the two engines is 650 kW / 884 hp, and the torque should be 900 Nm. The suspension of the car should be specially arranged.

The fastest Porsche 911 accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, but Polestar is probably not just about acceleration. It seems that the Chinese company will develop a car that will perform well in corners and withstand long loads. And the first is different in electricity due to the high weight of the battery, the last, in turn, requires an efficient cooling system that can handle the extra heat.

The debut of the Polestar 6 scheduled for 2026 seems no coincidence. This is when solid electrolyte cells should start appearing on the market. If they are used in a power inverter, it will be able to use higher power for a longer time without the risk of damaging the battery. And then suddenly it turns out that the combustion engine of the 911 makes noise, and yet it is powered by an electric competitor.
