The new Maserati Quattroporte has been postponed

The new Quattroporte, one of Maserati’s most popular cars that was supposed to be electric-only, will finally be off our roads next year. Davide Danesin, chief engineer of the Quattroporte and GranTurismo, said the development was only half complete. Another source explains that Maserati has decided to delay the model to 2028. Which the brand has not confirmed.

What we know

The next Quattroporte will be electric, and we thought it was established that it would be built on the Big STLA platform, like the Dodge Charger Daytona or the next Alfa Romeo Giulia. But Davide Danesin has not confirmed, the choice of platform is still discussed depending on what will be available in time. There is also talk of considering extending the base of the Granturismo Folgore which could serve as the basis for the new Quattroporte. Which can provide great agility and driving position similar to hot sports cars. In terms of batteries, Maserati would opt for a T-shaped architecture, allowing for a lower driving position than electric cars that opt for the traditional “skateboard” architecture. Maserati’s next electric car will be the MC20 Folgore, followed by a replacement for the large Levante SUV.
